Aura Archives is a work of fiction. H.E.R. and its "database" are part of the story. This page is not: it explains, in plain language, what the real website collects and why.
Reading without an account
You can read every published chapter without signing up. When you do, the site keeps no personal information about you. Like every website, our host records standard request logs (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to run and secure the server, and the site sets one temporary session cookie, described below.
Your browser keeps a few reader settings on your own device: where you stopped reading, your bookmarks, your text size, and whether Vibes music is on. They never leave your device, and clearing your browser data removes them.
If you create an account
Registration asks for your first and last name, a username and a password. We store:
- your name, username and a scrambled (hashed) form of your password, never the password itself;
- the profile you build, including your answers to the placement assessment;
- your reading activity, Archive Merit points and clearance level;
- any clearance granted for supporting the project, with a reference note.
We use this only to run your account and the story features tied to it. We do not sell it, rent it or use it for advertising.
Cookies
The site sets one cookie, a session cookie that keeps you signed in and protects forms. It ends when you close your browser. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics tools.
Other services
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers.
- If you turn Vibes on, the music player loads from YouTube or Spotify, and their own privacy policies apply to that player.
Children
Accounts are for people 13 and older. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the information tied to your account at any time. Email hakim@quietparkmedia.com from the address you want us to reply to, and include your username.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
